Neo-deterministic seismic hazard maps of Kosovo

Kosovo is one of the most seismically active regions in Europe, lying within Alpine-Mediterranean tectonic belt. Historical records for region show several catastrophic earthquakes with epicentral intensity IX (MCS). However, due to Kosovo’s high population density, prevalence traditional construction, and insufficient enforcement building codes, vulnerable earthquake damage. In this study, we present hazard maps bedrock conditions based on well-known Neo-deterministic Seismic Hazard Assessment (NDSHA) method. NDSHA relies upon fundamental physics wave generation propagation complex geologic structures generate realistic time series, used as input computation ground motion parameters, integrating available knowledge seismic history, seismogenic zones morphostructural nodes. accordance continuum mechanics, tensor nature preserved, producing signals using structural models obtained by tomographic inversion source information readily literature. Our are generally consistent observed (MCS) suggest that, some instances, X could be reached.
